Honest limits
What RoomForGems can’t clean
Some space on your phone is out of reach for every cleaner app. Here is what it is, and what actually works.
System Data
The phone manages this space itself (caches, logs, updates). No app can see or clear it.
iPhone:
It shrinks on its own. Restarting the phone and keeping a few GB free helps it settle.
Android:
Settings › Storage › System is managed by Android and can't be cleared by apps.
Other apps and their caches
Each app's files are private to that app, so no cleaner can reach them.
iPhone:
Settings › General › iPhone Storage lists each app. Offload or delete the ones you don't use.
Android:
Settings › Apps › pick an app › Storage › Clear cache.
Messages and their attachments
Photos and videos sent in chats are stored inside the messaging app.
iPhone:
Settings › General › iPhone Storage › Messages › Review Large Attachments.
Android:
Open the messaging app and delete large conversations or media.
iCloud or Google storage
Deleting a photo that lives only in the cloud frees cloud space, not phone space. We show the two separately.
iPhone:
Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
Android:
Google One app › Storage, or photos.google.com › Storage.
