Who we are
RoomForGems is made by Digital Infinity Group LLC. You can reach us at support@roomforgems.com, or by post at Digital Infinity Group LLC, 15732 Los Gatos Blvd #5075, Los Gatos, CA 95032. If we move the app to another company in our group, we will say so here and in the app.
Your photos stay on your phone
RoomForGems looks at your photo library only on your phone. Your photos, videos, file names and the small fingerprints the app uses to find similar photos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Deleting the app removes its own records. Albums and copies it saved in your photo library stay. The Reset button in Settings clears the app's own records without deleting the app.
What the app measures on your phone
To find copies and similar shots the app measures your photos on your phone. This includes whether a face is in focus with eyes open, and reading text on pictures. None of this leaves your phone.
The app measures how good a photo is. It does not work out who anyone is.
What we collect
We don't ask for your name, email or any account, and we don't collect any of them.
The app can send anonymous usage events, for example "a scan finished and found 2 to 5 GB" or "the unlock was purchased". Sizes are sent only as broad ranges. These events are not linked to you, to your Apple or Google account, or to an advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We ask PostHog not to store IP addresses.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, judged by your phone's region, the app sends no events until you turn them on when the app first opens. Everywhere else the events are on by default: the app tells you so when it first opens, and you can turn them off. In every country there is a switch in Settings that is always reachable, so you can turn the events off or on at any time.
Our website counts visits without cookies.
If you email us
If you write to support@roomforgems.com, we receive your email address and whatever you tell us. The message passes through Cloudflare's email routing and arrives in a Gmail inbox. We use it only to answer you, and we do not add you to any list.
This website
The website counts visits without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. Our hosting company, Vercel, also keeps ordinary server logs, which include your IP address, to run and protect the site. We do not use those logs to identify you.
Who processes data for us
PostHog (analytics) receives the anonymous events described above, and the website's anonymous visit counts. It acts for us as a processor.
Vercel hosts our website and keeps the server logs described above. It acts for us as a processor.
Cloudflare (email routing) and Google (the Gmail inbox) handle the emails you send to support. They act for us as processors.
Apple and Google process your purchase for their own purposes. We never see your payment details, your name or your email address.
Sending data to other countries
We use PostHog's US cloud, and Vercel runs our website from servers that can be in the United States. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, that means the anonymous events and the website logs can be sent to the United States. Those companies rely on the legal safeguards available for such transfers, such as the EU's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep things
We keep anonymous usage events only for as long as we need them to see how the app is working. We keep emails to support while we help you, and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you write again. Website server logs are kept by Vercel under its own schedule.
Legal basis (EU and UK)
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent before the app sends any usage event. Without your consent the app sends none.
For the website's cookieless visit counts and server logs, and for answering your emails, we rely on our legitimate interest in running the site and helping you.
How to withdraw consent
Open the app, go to Settings and turn the usage events off. This takes effect straight away and is as easy as turning them on. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before.
Your rights
Because the usage events are anonymous and we hold no information that identifies you, there is usually nothing for us to export, correct or delete. If you emailed us, you can ask us to send you, correct or delete what we hold. Write to support@roomforgems.com and we will answer.
If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland you may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). In the UK, these rights come from the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, this website does not count your visit at all.
We do not sell or share personal information, including for advertising across other apps or websites.
Children
The app has an age rating of 4+ because it contains nothing unsuitable for children. It is not made for children, and it collects no information that identifies anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 in the EU and UK, or under 13 elsewhere.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top and say what changed in the app or on this site. Questions go to support@roomforgems.com.
